In Case of an Emergency
We would like to inform you about our changes in our emergency coverage. It should come as no surprise that most people want the best medical care available for their pets. As a result, we have increased our diagnostic capabilities with services such as Ultrasound and Telemedicine Consultations with specialist from around the country. However, we are still a relatively small practice without any overnight staff and caring for your pets in a true emergency, providing a standard of care we should all strive for, is no longer possible. Our diagnostic, treatment, and critical care options are too limited working alone after hours. Fortunately, with the opening of the new Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital in South Deerfield, the very best of 24-hour round-the-clock emergency and critical care is now only 45 minutes away. In addition, Acton Emergency Care is still an option for those who are more comfortable traveling in that direction, though it is a little further away.
One of the doctors at Adams Animal Hospital will continue to be available for after hours consultations and advice on weeknights from hospital closing until 9pm, weekend and holiday mornings from 8-12N. If it is determined that emergency care is needed, the Doctor will advise referral. Outside of our coverage times, you will automatically be referred. However, if you know your pet will need to be seen, you may always go straight to the emergency facility. We are certain the increased level of care available will outweigh the inconvenience of traveling with your pet under stressful circumstances.
We also understand that special situations arise regarding emergencies. The best example one could give would be an anticipated Caesarian delivery for a pregnant pet. If you can ever anticipate trouble, please call us ahead of time so we can make the necessary arrangements. Our ultimate goal is to make sure the best care is available for your pet under all circumstances and at any hour. If questions arise, please feel free to call us and we will do our best to find answers.
Sincerely,
The Doctors at Adams Animal Hospital
